Planning
The ideal time for capturing those snuggly, sleepy images of your precious little one is during the first 5-15 days after your baby is born. For that reason and to guarantee a spot for your newborn, it is best to schedule your newborn session several months prior to your baby’s anticipated arrival. Advance scheduling also allows for ample time to discuss all of the details of, and your preferences for, your session.
SCHEDULING
To reserve your due date, a deposit is required (dates will not be held without payment. Deposit is non refundable). After you reserve your due date, you are in my calendar. About a month before your due date, I will send you a client guide containing detailed information about your session. It is best to make contact the next day your baby is born. If you are unable to contact me, please have a family member do so. When you contact me to let me know the baby has arrived, we will schedule your session appointment.
PREPARING
I have everything needed for your newborn session. Hats, bonnets, outfits, fancy wraps and props. If there is a sentimental item you would like included, please let me know ahead of time so I can plan a setup around the item. Other things to bring include a pacifier, wipes and diapers, spare bottles and pumped breast milk or formula.
SHOOTING
The studio temperature is maintained at 80 degrees to keep baby nice and warm. I recommend dressing in layers so you can peel away the layers if you get warm. Babies pee and poo on everything. It does not bother me, everything gets washed after a session. Newborn sessions can let up to three hours, so please plan accordingly (My average is an hour and a half). You may want to pack yourself a lunch and snacks. Enjoy the 'free' time to rest. Sometimes parents may be called to assist. Some poses require assistance from Mom or Dad as a spotter. Baby safety is ALWAYS number one in my studio.
EDITING
After your session, you will receive an online proof gallery to choose your photos. You can take as long as you would like to choose your photos. Once I receive your selections, edits can take 2-3 weeks depending on current workload.
